Do one thing that scares you every day, right?

Well my wonderful friend, colleague and collaborator @yoga_with_louise is the queen of #kitchendancing videos and since my intention this year is to be more embodied why not join in the fun?! 🙈😂💃🏽
.
Let’s get moving our bodies in ways that feel fun & joyful!

Sometimes one of the most challenging things with Intuitive Eating is not just knowing if we are hungry or not, or know what kind of food we are hungry for or even stopping when we are full.
.
For me, often the challenge is in eating something that’s going to carry me to the next time I get an opportunity to eat.
.
Trying different food combinations and learning from past experiences helps.
.
Oh and NOT beating myself up if I get it “wrong”, helps too of course!

As I’m getting ready to prepare my very modest veggie patch for the coming season, I *finally* got to harvest some purple sprouting broccoli.
.
I keep repeating my inner story of “I don’t have patience”. Since I’ve waited since last May for these, perhaps I can let that story go...?
.
What stories are you holding on to that may have served their time, and that you are ready to let go of?
“Dieting is packed and sold to us as the path to happiness.” Just have a look at the endless messages that the multi billion Diet Industry fling at us everywhere we turn.

We are being told and sold, that that pursuit of weight loss is the gateway drug to happiness.”
.
We’ve been conditioned for almost all our lives that thin = health. That we are ‘better people’ if we could just learn to control our weight, and if we can’t, then WE are at fault.
.
It may still be difficult to let go of the desire to lose weight, that’s totally OK. We all live in this dieting culture...
.
Just know that letting go of dieting is NOT the same as letting yourself go.
.
Letting go of dieting is an opportunity to cultivate self care, body respect and end the war with your body.
.
It is the way to free your mind from obsessive thinking about food and weight and instead put you energy into things that truly matters to you and that will enrich your life. ♥️

A big thank you to all the Birthday wishes yesterday. I had such a lovely weekend spending time with an old friend which reminded me of why it’s important to surround yourself with people who get you...
38 years of life. Grateful for everything 💕

“I thought becoming myself was improving each part piece by piece.
But it was finding a hidden wholeness, seeing the fractures as design.”

I’m currently eating my way through my freezer. To be honest it’s been an interesting experience, because even though I only have a small top freezer as part of my fridge, it has kept me fed for almost two weeks now, and I still have some food left...
.
It has made me pause and think about:
1. That having plenty of food stocked in freezer and pantry gives me a sense of safety and security. It IS and important part of my relationship with food.
.
2. I DO waste more food than I would like. Which has been a good eye opener in preparation for my feed-yourself-on-a-fiver -a-day project.
.
3. You can easily make quick, easy and tasty meals from a bit of creativity. Some meals are boring, but they don’t ALL have to be ☺️
.
This is a spicy roast pepper and tomato soup topped with a pre prepared quinoa salad I got from Aldi.
.
It was refreshing and delicious!

I have found, both for myself and with my clients, the very liberating act of giving ourselves FULL permission to eat. .
To eat ALL kinds of foods and to eat for ALL kinds of reasons.
.
This may sound contradictory to some, because we’ve been conditioned to eat certain portion sizes,
to eat less in order to make our bodies smaller,
to ‘only’ eat when we are hungry and stop when we are full.
And of course that emotional eating is bad...
.
The cux of the matter is, that as long as we are hanging on to external rules it’s very difficult to get curious,
to reflect and to get in touch with our own body’s needs and wisdom.
.
Food is a primary need for survival, you need it! .
If you’re hungry eat. If you’re sad eat. If you’re celebrating eat. It’s all ok.
.
No need to repent anything.
.
Trust that your body will have your back (it’s usually the mind doing the antics...) and rejoice in the very act of self nourishment.
♥️
