We live in an increasingly fast paced society, and stress is one of the biggest detriments to our health and happiness.

When our stress levels gets out of control, we often feel overwhelmed, anxious, tired and drained. And most of us tend to EAT as a coping strategy (consciously or not), And usually it's not the stuff that will support our longterm health either! Which can in turn continue to feed this vicious cycle...

But how do we break the cycle and get off this "treadmill"?

The science and data of the benefits of mindfulness and meditation is now pretty clear. It is a brilliant way to support our overall wellbeing and reduce our stress levels!

But it can be a difficult thing to "sit down and meditate" when we are caught up in "busyness". Let alone find the time to do it with our already jam-packed schedule...

Mindfulness is not just about slowing down. It is equally about becoming aware, noticing new things and perhaps most of all, doing so with an open-minded, curious and non-judging approach.

To life, just as it is.

Bringing the art of mindfulness to the table, gives you the power to integrate more awareness and compassion to both your eating experience and to your life in general.

Practicing mindful eating has the potential not only to give you more satisfaction and less stress during the eating experience. It will give you your power back, to decide how to act - not simply react. It becomes easier to be more satisfied with less, which often puts a halt to overeating and comfort eating. With a mindful pause you create space for choice. And that my friend is your super power.

Being aware and present in the here and now is really freeing and opens up the space for more joy and happiness.

How does the food you eat make you feel? How do your thoughts and emotions affect your food choices?

I have observed that how we feel about our bodies, and how we choose to nourish ourselves are really closely connected. How we feel, and our emotional state in general, can definitely impact on our food choices. And most of the time this happens mindlessly on auto-pilot.

Even though I am a Nutritional Therapist and believe in food as medicine, I don't believe in adding labels or moral values to food, since this can all too easy contribute to us developing a poor and stressful relationship with food and eating. Instead of tuning in and listening to our bodies, we become pre occupied with "being good" and doing things "right".

In keeping food and eating simple and enjoyable we can pursue a more relaxed, calm and flexible relationship with all foods. And when we are not constantly worrying about what, how and when to eat, it leaves us with time and energy to explore other things in life that can bring about joy and fulfillment.

Diets don't work

- So what can we do instead?

Diets don't work for a number of reasons, one of them being that they are often full of restrictive rules, of what we "should" and "shouldn't" eat, leaving no room for individuality or flexibility. They usually don't address many of the other reasons of HOW & WHY we eat, which are equally as important if we want to start listening to our own bodies and truly feed them with what they are asking for.

Restrictive diets only address external changes, and do not honour your own inherent body wisdom. Restriction usually relies on willpower, which is a pretty limited resource, and as we all know as soon as we fall off the diet and "fail" we feel bad about ourselves, often followed by what I call "the dieting mindset" in which we comfort ourselves with food, to soothe the guilt and shame about not being good enough to stick to the plan, yet again...

Anyone who has ever been on a diet can pretty much vouch for the fact that it is NOT fun. There is no pleasure  associated with this way of going about the daily task of nourishing ourselves with food.

The constant yo-yoing in weight and food intake can also have a negative impact on our metabolism and even our digestive system.

It's time for a change and a different approach!

All change begins with awareness. 

With awareness comes empowerment. When you are aware of what you are doing and how you are feeling it gives you the power to choose. This is your super power!

Having insight and awareness gives you the chance to make different choices and to let go of what no longer serves you, putting you on the path to health and healing.

Mindful Eating is a beautiful way to help you engage with food and eating from a place of care and kindness, rather than that of dislike or rejection, or maybe even out of fear and anxiety. And from this place it becomes much easier to make choices that serve your health, and your body.

However we may need some guidance and support on this journey!

And that's why I created this programme.

Who am I to help you change your relationship with food & eating?

I am a registered Nutritional Therapist with a special focus on mind-body nutrition.

My mission is to inspire people to realise how quick and simple it is to cook nutritious food, how empowering it is to change the negative thought patterns in our mind and how much better we can feel, both inside and out, just by making a few simple changes to how we eat and live by putting ourselves first for a change!

Through my professional training as well as my personal journey, I've come to understand how powerful it is to bring mindfulness to our lives and even more so a mindful approach to food and eating. Without the insight this practice gives us, longterm change is very difficult, But when we open the space for awareness, we discover that we have choice. A choice to take our health in our own hands. A choice to make decisions that will serve us on our path of health and healing. And a choice to come home to who we truly are.

I have in the past six years of practicing helped 100s of people feel better, have more energy and develop a healthier life through food, eating and lifestyle techniques, as well as having a healthier relationship with food, eating and their bodies.
