Food Intolerance Testing

Is the food you eat making you sick? You may suffer with food intolerances, or there may be something else going on with your digestive system.

Sometimes, testing is the shotcut route to find out what’s really going on.

Common symptoms of food intolerance are:

  • Stomach cramps
  • Bloating
  • Nausea
  • Excess gas/flatulence
  • Headaches
  • Low mood
  • Hives/eczema

Food intolerances are delayed immune reactions. This means that the symptoms you are experiencing may or may not be related to your latest meal. It could be from something you had the day before or something you eat a lot of, often.

Sometimes general poor digestive function is an underlying cause of multiple food intolerances. If you feel that what you are eating may contribute to the symptoms you are currently experiencing then a simple test can take some of the guess work out of the equation.

The Food Intolerance Test check for 52 of them most common foods eaten on a daily basis. These include:

  • Wheat
  • Cow’s milk
  • Gluten
  • Soy
  • Whole egg
  • Shell fish
  • Beef
  • Pork
  • Chicken
  • Tomatoes
  • Citrus fruit
  • Rice

And many more.

What to expect at your test appointment:

The test is done by a using a few drops of blood taken from your finger and developed on a tray, using the ELISA method. This is currently the standard method for checking IgG antibodies in the blood. Developing your food intolerance test takes about 45 min. During this time we will also  will go through your current signs and symptoms as well as your current diet.

Once we have the results a straightforward treatment plan will be advised. Your treatment plan will include guidance on how to eliminate your trigger foods from your diet, what foods to replace the trigger foods with, gentle support for your digestive system and some recipes to help you implement any dietary changes necessary.

You will then be sent home to get started with your new recommendations and we will do a follow up to asses your progress after 5 weeks. During the follow up consultation we will address any further questions you have and make any adjustments to your treatment plan, if necessary.

Cost of food intolerance testing €130 which includes initial consultation + test.
